Mareike Voigts (chairperson)
Represents producers
Mareike new Mareike studied Organic Agriculture at BSc and MSc level in Witzenhausen, Germany and moved to Farm Krumhuk, Namibia, with her family in 2016. Mareike worked as organic inspector and evaluation officer for organic certification for the company CERES – Certification of Environmental Standards from 2015 to 2020. She joined the Board of the Namibian Organic Association in 2017. In December 2020 Mareike took over the programatic leadership of the Sustainable Agriculture team at the Namibia Nature Foundation (NNF), where she manages the implementation of joined projects of NOA and NNF to support organic agriculture in Namibia alongside other agricultural projects. Mareike is NOA Chairperson since January 2024, after having been Vice-Chair for two years. Mareike also farms on Farm Krumhuk with a specific focus on poultry and pigs.

Eckhart Förtsch- (Vice chairperson)

 e fortsch new Eckhart is an organic farmer in Namibia with nearly a decade of experience in the field. He specializes in livestock and vegetable farming at Farm Olifantwater West. Eckhart led the Namibian Organic Association as chairperson from 2020 to 2023 and is currently serving as vice chairperson.

Vera Corry (Secretary)

 Vera new Vera comes from a background in biology and wildlife conservation and has developed a keen interest in organic agriculture and agroecology over the past few years as a means of safeguarding the environment and land that we depend on. In April 2022, Vera joined the Namibian Nature Foundation under the Sustainable Agriculture Programme and has been supporting NOA’s activities through the KHSA project. Vera joined the NOA Board in 2022 and has been serving the Board as the Secretary since then.

Dirk Bockmuhl

Dirk Bockmuhl new
Dirk studied natural resources management (nature conservation) at BSC and honours level in Namibia after which he worked as a cheetah researcher for a few years. This was followed by a 2 years masters degree in biology (ecology and conservation) from Uppsala University in Sweden. He then completed a permaculture design course in the klein karoo in South Africa and upon returning to namibia he joined farm krumhuk where he is managing the organic vegetable production, the piggery and the fodder production for the dairy cows.

Johannes Temapo Negongo

Temapo new Temapo Johannes is a horticulturist, educator, and owner of Iiyimati company. A self-taught practitioner, he excels in plant cultivation, soil management, and sustainable farming practices. He currently teaches horticulture at the Waldorf School, imparting practical skills and theoretical insights to students in the Basic Vocational Education program. Temapo has been serving as a board member since January 2022.

Selma Nasheya

 Selma Photo new Selma studied B.Sc. (Hons) in Natural Resources Conservation & Management (Aquatic Sciences) at UNAM and has her MBA in Sustainable Development & Management from Nalanda University, as well as a PGDip in Sustainable Food Systems from Stellenbosch University. She is a sustainability advocate, budding urban agricultural entrepreneur, and the founder of Mehafo Sustainable Solutions. Selma joined the NOA board in January 2023.

Immo Böhm
Represents agripreneurs & consumers
immo new Immo grew up on a farm in Namibia, and has a BSc in Nature Conservation, Zoology, and Agricultural production, but after obtaining his MBA he followed a career in IT, Logistics, and Business. This exposure led him to establish the social enterprise Olusheno, which finances solar home systems for villagers and rural farmers on very favorable terms. Immo then developed a keen interest in permaculture and organic farming and thus established Living Earth, an organization focusing on spawning the building blocks needed for a happy and abundant Namibia for all. Immo’s passion is his urban garden and a small plot in the semi-desert where he focuses on methods suitable to produce abundant food with minimal water used.

 Jacobina Penny Lumambo

Jacobina new Jacobina Penehafo holds a BA in General Studies with a focus on psychology and has become an avid organic gardener with a deep commitment to sustainability. She founded Taatsu's Garden, a sustainable business dedicated to combating food waste and promoting organic living. Jacobina's journey into urban gardening was inspired by her personal health challenges and a desire to foster a community of self-sufficiency in Windhoek. Her passion for organic practices and sustainable entrepreneurship continues to drive her mission for a greener, healthier future.

Lydia Nakupanda

Lydia is a leader in sustainable agriculture and the founder of the Agroecology Institute of Namibia, focusing on research, training, and innovation in sustainable food systems. With a strong academic background in Agro-Food engineering, Agroecology & Sustainable Development, Food Science, and training certifications from IFOAM - Organics International, and GIZ - Farming for Resilience, she has trained over 300 small-scale farmers and vocational trainees, building a network of sustainable agriculture advocates across Namibia. Lydia has also contributed to the Technical Working Group for Agriculture CBET qualifications of the Namibia Training Authority and is actively advocating for sustainable practices. Currently, she is spearheading a pesticide reduction research program and also exploring strategies to scale up organic productions through commercial farming and attract investment, significantly advancing the mission of the Namibia Organic Association.
